The Summer Camp offered mainly focusses on science covering biology, chemistry and physics experiments mainly catered for kids aged 4-12 years in a small group (5 kids) conducted in a safe environment. The experiments are conducted using safe household items and kids want to imitate at home is totally safe and fun. To keep up their spirits, experiments conducted will be combined with fun activities as well. An overview of the experiments conducted on a weekly basis is as follows:Week 1 (June 29-July 3) No theme
Week 2 (July 6-10) Science in Action
- Monster Ash (1day experiment)
Take home message: What is a catalyst, What happens when 2 chemicals are mixed together and the reaction behind the monster ash
- Rainbow experiment (1 day experiment)
Take home message: How to make rainbow water, what happens when we mix solutes
- Volcano formation (1 day experiment)
Take home message: Volcano at home teaches chemical reactions and what causes the reaction between 2 chemicals
Week 3 ( July 13-17) Organic farming
Take home message: We go back to civilization and learn organic farming using natures products and or organic fertilizers. It is very important to teach kids about making their own vegetable garden to meet the crisis of tomorrow
Week 4 (July 20-24) Bacteria Handprints
Take home message: This is one of the high demand experiment which teaches kids importance of cleanliness, hand wash as they see the real bacteria on their hands in bacteria growing plates. This is a 4 day experiment involving steps in continuity. Kids are encouraged to attend full week program
Week 5 (July 27-31) Health is Wealth
Take home message: Hottest week of the year; kids will learn about Self-care, Mental-care, Physical-care, Emotional-care through an opportunity to express themselves
Week 6 (Aug 4-7) No theme
Week 7 (Aug 10-14) Saving the planet
Take home message: Little drops of water makes mighty ocean (Save water), Save air and trees, 3 R's to save the planet
Week 8 (Aug 17-21) Down time
Take home message: Creative downtime to help kids come out with their imaginations using simple tools and be self-dependant
Week 9 (Aug 24-28) Re-visit high demand science experiments
Kids decide if they want to re-visit any of the experiments and they get a chance to re-do
Week 10 (Aug 31-Sep 4th) Welcome fall and welcome school
Take home messages: Indoor planting to improve your indoor air quality, watering, maintenance and care; messages to help kids transition back to school
